ACTI-GEL 208®

ACTI-GEL 208® is a unique magnesium aluminium silicate offering a combination of excellent stability and workability for many water based products.

ACTI-GEL 208® provides a very high viscosity at rest and an extreme low viscosity after applying a little shear ( pseuplastic flow properties) . Although launched in the year 2000, current applications include already:

  • Self levelling products, spray able concrete ( shotcrete) and self compacting concrete
  • Ceramic glazes
  • Paint
  • Cement and gypsum based plasters

In all these applications, ACTI-GEL 208® is rewarded for offering:

Excellent stability, preventing settlement and segregation.
Excellent workability and spray ability. Reduces rebound in shotcrete.
Minimizing pin holing and improved adhesion after firing in glazes

Please do not hesitate to contact us for addition information.

ACTI-GEL 208® as binder for powders

ACTI-GEL 208® is used as a unique binder for powders in many applications, including catalysts, ceramics and activated carbon. By replacing CMC in these formulations remarkable improvements of strength and extrusion properties can be achieved.

ACTI_GEL 208® Particle Morphology

bristles
  • Acti-Gel 208® has an average particle size of 1.5 to 2 microns in length and an average diameter of 30 Angstroms.
  • ActiGel 208 ® “bristles” are positively charged on the ends and negatively charged along the axis. This electrical interaction is what allows  Acti-Gel 208 to gel.
  • Although Acti-Gel® 208 has a water “absorption” of 200% by weight, drying speed is improved in many applications.
  • In reality, it is surface adsorption rather than internal absorption. This is why Acti-Gel® 208 readily mixes into solution and dries easily.
